WB Rubber installs backyard artificial turf for Texas homeowners who want a low-maintenance, year-round green lawn. SportTurf with professional base preparation, infill spreading, and installation. Serving Houston, Conroe, Katy, The Woodlands, and surrounding areas.
Texas drought restrictions and summer heat turn natural lawns brown. Artificial turf stays green through June, July, and August without irrigation or lawn care service.
Our SportTurf is UV-stabilized for Texas sun exposure. It holds its color and blade shape through years of intense heat without fading or becoming brittle.
Safe, consistent surface for children to play on year-round. No mud after rain, no patchy dirt spots, and no pesticides or fertilizers on the surface.
Turf backyard patios and entertaining areas look great and stay functional regardless of weather. Outdoor furniture sits level, guests stay clean, and the yard is always ready.
For yards with dogs, we install drainage-optimized turf systems that handle pet use. See our dedicated pet turf page for drainage and odor control specifics.
Professional base prep is what separates a 15-year turf installation from a 3-year one. We grade, compact, and infill every backyard install as standard practice.
The Texas summer is the enemy of natural grass. Most of the Houston metro, Conroe, Katy, and The Woodlands deal with extended stretches of 100-degree heat, drought conditions, and water restrictions from June through September. A natural lawn in those conditions requires constant irrigation, weekly mowing, and regular repair of heat-stressed and drought-damaged spots. Artificial turf eliminates all of that in one installation.
WB Rubber installs SportTurf in residential backyards throughout Harris County, Montgomery County, and the surrounding communities. We handle the full installation: site assessment, excavation of the existing material, grading for drainage, compaction of the aggregate base, turf laying, seaming, and infill spreading. Base preparation is included in every job, not a line-item add-on.
Backyard sizes we commonly install range from 200 to 3,000 square feet. Small courtyard areas up to large family backyards with entertaining space, play areas, and pet zones all fall within our residential scope. For backyards that include a pool, see our pool surround turf page. For backyards with dogs, see our pet turf page for information on drainage-specific systems. And if you want to add a putting green, that can be combined with a full backyard turf project into one installation visit.
Drainage is the most important technical consideration in a backyard turf installation. Houston and the surrounding area receives heavy rainfall. A backyard turf system that does not drain properly will develop standing water on the surface after rain events, which is both a usability problem and a long-term turf performance issue. Pooled water accelerates seam separation and sub-base settlement.
We build backyard turf systems with a properly graded compacted aggregate base. The base is pitched to direct water away from structures and toward existing drainage on your property. We confirm the drainage direction during the site assessment before any excavation begins. In yards with poor natural drainage, we may recommend additional drainage infrastructure before proceeding with turf installation. We will be direct with you about what the site needs rather than installing over a drainage problem and leaving it for you to discover later.
The aggregate base we compact is typically 3 to 4 inches of crushed granite or class II base material. On top of that goes a weed barrier, then the turf itself, then infill. The infill we spread depends on the application: silica sand for general use, crumb rubber for added cushion in play areas, and specific blended infill options for pet areas. See the residential turf overview for more context on what is included in every installation.
